Radiohead at Lakewood

I absolutely love live music but it has been quite some time since I've seen a show with 18,000 people in attendance! I really enjoy looking at gig photography, but I never end up bringing a camera to shows. My fear is that I wouldn't be able to take pictures and simultaneously get lost in the music that I came to enjoy. You know, kind of like walking and chewing gum at the same time. Fortunately in this digital age I can view other people's photos and even videos online shortly after the show.

The band performed a really great set playing material from seven of their albums. The first time I saw Radiohead was in a very small venue shortly after OK Computer was released. During the show this Thursday it dawned on me that several of the fans at the show were probably in elementary school when I was at my first Radiohead show. Well, I'm young at heart and you can never take that from me! Here is the setlist:

Young Blood Gallery & Boutique

Congratulations to Maggie and Kelly, co-owners and founders of Atlanta's Young Blood Gallery and Boutique, on their brand new location! The girls have recently relocated to a great spot on North Highland in between Virginia Highlands and Little Five Points. You can read about their move and check for updates on their blog. Some of my photos are available for purchase in the boutique!
I am very excited about their Grand Reopening this weekend because the gallery will feature works by the extremely talented artist Jess Gonacha! You can check out her website here and buy prints of her work in her online store

Radiohead tonight!

I jumped in the river and what did I see?
Black-eyed angels swam with me
A moon full of stars and astral cars
All the figures I used to see
All my lovers were there with me
All my past and futures
And we all went to heaven in a little row boat
There was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt
from Radiohead's "Pyramid Song", lyrics Thom Yorke
To say I'm a little bit excited about seeing Radiohead tonight would be like a kid saying he is a little bit excited about Santa Claus coming the night before Christmas. The forecast is calling for thunderstorms this evening in Atlanta but fortunately I have tickets for covered seats (and I have a really cute date too!)

May

My Grammy has always been a song bird, to this very day she will break out into song. When I was little one of the tunes she sang to me was "April Showers" –
Though April showers may come your way,
They bring the flowers that bloom in May.
So if it's raining, have no regrets,
Because it isn't raining rain, you know, (It's raining violets,)
And where you see clouds upon the hills,
You soon will see crowds of daffodils,
So keep on looking for a blue bird, And list'ning for his song,
Whenever April showers come along.
Back then I took the song quite literally, but now that I'm older I can appreciate the meaning of the song. The dark times prepare us for all of the beauty that is waiting for us in life, and the rainy weather just make the sunny days that much sweeter.
